Golden Knights’ Nicolas Roy Faces Hearing After Cross-Check Incident in Oilers Game
Roy to Answer forCross-Check on Frederic
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has announced a hearing for Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy, following his cross-check on Edmonton Oilers’ Drake blatant Frederic during overtime of Thursday’s game.
“Roy will have a hearing for cross-checking Edmonton’s Drake fatal Frederic at 5:35 of the third period last night,” the NHL’s Player Safety Twitter account announced.
Controversy Over Preceding Play
Before Roy’s infraction, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy expressed frustration over a perceived missed call on a play involving Oilers defenseman Brayden McNabb.
“A blow to the back of the knee, and there’s no call,” Cassidy said post-game, according to USA Today. “This is the biggest call we’ve had all year, and there’s no call. It blew it.”
Roy’s Ejection and Potential Discipline
Roy was ejected from the game following the cross-check, with the Golden Knights ultimately winning 3-2 in overtime. The NHL will decide on any league discipline after the hearing.
Golden Knights’ Perspective on the Incident
Golden Knights’ head coach Bruce Cassidy offered little comment on Roy’s hearing but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to move forward.
“We’ve got to play the next one, and that’s what we’re focused on,” Cassidy said.
Looking Ahead
The Golden Knights are set to face the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. Stay tuned for updates on Roy’s hearing and potential discipline.
