The Aliens Are Back: Victor Wembanyama Stars in “Alien Dunk” Cartoon

The aliens have returned to the NBA, metaphorically speaking. There’s no word yet if they’ve decided to set foot on Earth. But one thing’s clear: Victor Wembanyama is the new intergalactic basketball hero. The French sensation is not only conquering the court but also animation. Fresh from his virtual cameo in “Futurama,” Wembanyama is the protagonist of “Alien Dunk,” a new cartoon series that blends comedy and science fiction.

Teeing Off On Space’s Crater

MyMovies reminds us, in case you’ve forgotten (or missed it), the unlikely tale of NBA aliens started with 1996’s “Space Jam.” The live-action/animated hybrid featured basketball icon Michael Jordan teaming up with the Looney Tunes to take on alien invaders. Now, “Alien Dunk” is ready to slam-dunk into your screens.

Victor Wembanyama in Action

In “Alien Dunk,” Wembanyama plays himself, a.k.a. “Victor,” a young alien who loves basketball above all else. He’s joined forces with his sister, Eve, in an intergalactic league called “Starball League.” Their mission? To defend the universe’s peace and harmony, one slam dunk at a time.

Basketball Meets Space Opera

Variety reports that PGS Entertainment and TF1 are behind the series, which will be produced in France. Studio Stim, the team behind iconic animations like “Garfield” and “Tom & Jerry,” is on board to bring Victor’s extraterrestrial adventures to life.

Wembanyama, who’s known for his passion for comics and cartoons, is thrilled. “I’m very happy to be involved in ‘Alien Dunk,'” he said. “Especially because it brings together two things I love: basketball and space.”

Prepare for Liftoff

While we keep our eyes on the skies, “Alien Dunk” prepares for its big screen debut. Meanwhile, Wembanyama is ready to make waves in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs. Here’s hoping his cartoon doppelganger headlines the key highlights.
