Germany’s captain quit the national team

The titular captain of the German national football team, Ilkay Gundogan, is ending his participation in it.

The 33-year-old midfielder announced his decision a little while ago via a statement on social media.

Gundogan has 82 appearances for the Bundesliga with 19 goals.

The Barcelona midfielder led Germany to their home European Championship games this summer and the loss to Spain in the quarter-finals turned out to be the ethnic Turk’s last match in the national shirt.
