The Gigantes de Carolina and the Ganaderas de Hatillo engaged in a thrilling battle in the second clash of the National Women’s Superior Basketball (BSNF) semi-final series A, held at the Francisco “Pancho” Deida Coliseum. The Hatillanas emerged victorious with a narrow margin of 65-64, leveling the series 1-1.
For the second consecutive night, the teams competing in the BSNF semi-final A series delivered a closely contested match that was decided in the final minutes.
The Ganaderas started the game strongly, taking an 18-11 lead in the first quarter. Although the Giants made a significant comeback in the second period, the home team managed to maintain their advantage, ending the first half with a score of 34-32.
In the third quarter, the Hatillo team extended their lead to eight points, reaching a score of 56-48. The final period was filled with excitement as the Carolina players made a 16-9 run, threatening to snatch the victory. However, the “Nanas Ganaderas” refused to succumb on their home court and emerged triumphant with a final score of 65-64.
Jaelynn Penn led the Hatillo offense with 21 points, closely followed by Dariauna Lewis with 20 points, while Adrienne Godbold contributed 16 points, resulting in a combined total of 57 points.
On Monday, October 2, 2023, the Ganaderas will aim to move one step closer to the BSNF final series as they visit the Giants at the Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in Carolina. The third game of the semifinal series TO will commence at 8:00 pm.
