Judo Instructor Gabriel Piejak Achieves Prestigious 6th Dan Black Belt

A Legacy of Dedication and Expertise

Gabriel Piejak has reached a pinnacle in his Judo career, achieving the rank of 6th Dan black belt in January 2026. This accomplishment not only recognizes his personal dedication but also highlights the strength and quality of training at Alliance Dojo 71.

From Student to Master

Piejak began his Judo journey in 1983 at the age of 8. He earned his 1st Dan black belt in 1992, followed by the 2nd Dan in 1995, 3rd Dan in 2000, 4th Dan in 2010, and 5th Dan in 2015. His progression demonstrates a consistent commitment to the sport and its principles.

A Career Dedicated to Teaching

A state-certified teacher with a university degree in sports management and organization, Piejak quickly transitioned into a teaching role. He began assisting Master Zemzemi with classes at just 14 years traditional. In 1996, he took leadership of Judo Jujitsu Clunysois and, in 2006, joined Alliance Dojo 71 as a salaried instructor, eventually succeeding Master Zemzemi as Technical Director in 2008.

Impact Beyond the Dojo

Piejak’s influence extends beyond instruction. He competed at the inter-regional level, earning multiple departmental and regional podium finishes, and even achieved a vice-championship title at the France FSCF. He also became a national referee in 2012 and has actively contributed to the development of Judo at both the departmental and regional levels.

Mentorship and Development

Throughout his career, Piejak has trained approximately one hundred black belts, including one state-certified teacher, one BPJEPS holder, and ten federal certificate holders. He has also been recognized with federal distinctions, including palms, bronze medals, and the black belt cross of the federation.

“This prestigious grade is obviously me who obtained it, but it is above all the success of a team of partners committed to and sharing the same project, it is also the success of 42 years of practice. 2 words reach to mind: pride and perform.”

Gabriel Piejak, Technical Director and 6th dan black belt

“I am remarkably proud of Gaby’s success in this prestigious grade on a personal level, of course, but also for the notoriety and recognition of the Dojo 71 Alliance. Proof that the training within the club is serious, the Alliance Dojo 71 is the only club in Saône et Loire to have obtained 2 6th dan black belts out of the 6 that the departmental committee counts, a feat which is not ready to be equaled. The circle is complete, the student has caught up with the Master, the club and I are very happy with this success.”

Céline Piejak, President of the Dojo 71 Alliance

“After 36 years of loyalty to the Alliance Dojo 71, we decided to hand over the reins, it was in 2008. We both agreed, we decided to trust Gabriel Piejak, who arrived at the club at the age of 8 and who at the age of 31 is ready to get involved and take on the responsibilities of the club. Until then, the club operated on volunteers, but times are changing and we created an employee position in 2006 for Gabriel and supported him for 2 years before leaving him the reins of a club so dear to our hearts. He was able to develop the club while working until obtaining his 6th dan black belt in January 2026.”
