the Office of the Mayor of Managua continues to bet on the development of sports and youth with the recent inauguration of developments in Roberto Huembes multipurpose gym. This emblematic space, located in Roberto Huembes Marketrehabilitated to provide better conditions to the youth who practice various sports disciplines such as boxing, taekwondo, judo, volleyball and basketball.
During the inauguration event, the unveiling of a mural titled “Heroes of the Great Homeland”which honors the history and legacy of Latin American warriors. The ceremony was attended by the world boxing champion Romanian “Chocolatito” Gonzálezicon of Nicaraguan sports and a source of inspiration for young boxers who dream of following in his footsteps.
The vice mayor of Managua, Enrique Armashighlights the importance of this gym, which has been the birthplace of great champions such as Rene Alvarado y Felix Alvarado. “This space has been the basis for the training of fighters who proudly represent Nicaragua on international stages. The gym will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with boxing nights on Fridays, giving young people a safe and equipped place to practice their favorite sports. In addition, the director of Commema, Freddy Cascodetail the improvements made; the murals were repaired, the electrical systemoffices, bathrooms, roofs and ramps were added to people with disabilities.
In this regard, Jorge Gonzalezpresident of Nicaraguan Merchants Associationsthanked the Mayor’s Office for its efforts and emphasized the positive impact of this training space on future champions. “This gym is a gift for children of merchants and all that they want to improve themselves through sport”he declared.
