Seminoles Prepare for High-Level Competition

ARLINGTON, TX – In his fourth season at the helm, Florida State head coach Link Jarrett is set to lead the 16th-ranked Seminoles (3-0) into a challenging weekend at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. FSU will face a demanding schedule against Michigan, No. 9 Auburn, and Nebraska at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

This tournament marks a significant step up in competition for Florida State, featuring a top-10 opponent and two other programs with established postseason success. It will be the first time the Seminoles have played in an MLB stadium since 2018.

Tournament Schedule

• Sunday, February 22nd, 3:30 p.m. ET: vs. Nebraska

Florida State enters the weekend having swept James Madison and winning at Jacksonville by run-rule in their last two games.

Friday: FSU vs. Michigan

“Here’s quite the tournament,” Jarrett said Thursday. “Clearly, you can notice the level of competition. I feel like this has the bracket in Omaha-type potential.”

Wes Mendes will start for the Seminoles against Michigan. Michigan is coming off a neutral-site event where they secured wins against then-No. 12 Oregon State and No. 24 Arizona.

Injury Update

The status of Florida Atlantic transfer Trey Beard is uncertain due to a stomach bug. Jarrett stated that Beard threw a bullpen earlier this week and will throw another today, with a decision on his availability to be made afterward.

“He’s doing a lot better. I guess when you have that stomach virus bug, it takes you awhile to get your strength back,” Jarrett said. “ … This is a long season. When somebody’s beat up like that, you want to be smart and wise.”
