French number 1 Matthieu Pavon got off to a rocky start in the FedEx Cup Playoffs by posting a near-perfect start at the TPC Southwind course in Memphis, with a score of 65 that pushed him to the top of the rankings.
Two weeks after its poor performance in the Olympic tournament at the Paris 2024 Games, Matthew Pavon returned to the saddle in full by signing an extraordinary first day of FedEx St. Jude Championshipthe first meeting of FedEx Cup Playoffs.
“I honestly didn’t really know what to expect after my bad week at the Games, but I worked hard last week and I feel better every day.” began Matthieu Pavon.
Making clear progress in particular in his iron shots, a sector of the game where by his own admission he is more patient, Bordelais took 15 of the 18 greens in regulation and seized almost all opportunities when the distance lent there.
In particular, he gained nearly two strokes over the rest of the field on his shots toward the green.
His card of 65, 5 shots under par, was the second best score of the day. This puts Pavon in the expected top 10 for the FedEx Cup.
