FIU Baseball to Host Boston College in Two-Game Series

MIAMI – The FIU baseball program is set to host Boston College for a two-game midweek series at FIU Baseball Stadium.

Panthers Seem to Build Momentum

FIU (7-5) enters the series following a weekend split against Stony Brook. The Panthers dropped the opener on Friday, Feb. 27 (11-1), before securing a thrilling 10-9 walk-off victory on Saturday, Feb. 28. Sunday’s game was canceled due to inclement weather.

This series represents the third matchup for FIU against a Power 4 opponent this season, following a series against #9 Florida and an upcoming series against #24 Miami.

Ildefonso’s Walk-Off Homer Highlights Recent Success

Saturday’s win was highlighted by Andrew Ildefonso’s three-run walk-off home run, securing FIU’s seventh victory of the season and their third walk-off home run of 2026.

FIU’s offense has been a key strength, totaling 111 hits as a team, ranking third in Conference USA. They have also driven in 103 runs, ranking 36th nationally and second in CUSA.

  • Samuel Fischer: Leads the team with 17 hits (third in CUSA) and a .447 average with an OPS of 1.407.
  • Andrew Ildefonso: Has started all 12 games, driving in 14 RBI with two home runs and five doubles.
  • Mario Trivella: Leads the team with five home runs (second in CUSA) and ranks third in the program with 13 RBI.
  • Luca Reyes: Leads the program with 17 RBI (second in CUSA), including an eight-RBI performance with a walk-off grand slam on February 21st.
  • Aidan Cohall: Has 11 hits in 11 games, hitting .314.
  • Aris Rivera: Hitting .313 (5-for-16) with four RBI.

Pitching Staff Showing Promise

FIU’s pitching staff has recorded 106 strikeouts over 107 innings pitched, ranking fifth in Conference USA. Jeremy Urena and George Adams lead the team in innings pitched among starters.

Scouting the Eagles

Boston College enters the series with a 5-5 record after a series loss to FGCU. They remain in South Florida before opening ACC play at Miami.
