IBSF’s Inaugural Summer Camp: A Smashing Success in Prague
Prague, Czechia – The first-ever International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Summer Training Camp, held at OLympic Sports Centre in Prague from 23-30 August, has been deemed an unequivocal success. Hosted by the Czech Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, the camp welcomed 25 athletes from 12 nations across four continents, marking a significant moment for global bobsleigh and skeleton.
Mind, Body, and Soul: A Holistic Summer Camp
The carefully crafted seven-day camp blended intense physical training with mental preparation and cultural experiences. Athletes, including Paralympian and reigning World Championeks, visited Prague’s historic sites and indulged in gelato, creating lasting bonds off the track.

Global Family Celebrates Success
Brazil’s Eduardo Strapasson, U20 Pan-American Champion and Youth Olympic Games competitor, emphasized the importance of unity. “Skeleton is not just about sliding and sprinting. Now we have new friends, and that’s key.”
Australia’s Desi Johnson, a former track and field star, took home the women’s push event title at the international push championship, capping off a “brilliant experience” that left her “excited for the Olympic season ahead”.
Looking Ahead: A Recipe for Success
With the success of the inaugural camp, IBSF Academy & Development Manager Nicola Minichiello highlighted the Czech hosts’ role and expressed excitement for future camps. Meanwhile, Martin Bohman, President of the Czech Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association, emphasized the global family’s strength and optimism for the upcoming season.
“This camp has been the perfect opportunity for athletes to make alliances. We’re now looking forward to seeing these athletes move through the upcoming season with improved skills, confidence, and new friendships,” said Bohman.
