Three New Additions to Ecuador’s Roster for World Cup Qualifiers

Coach Félix Sánchez has announced the inclusion of three new players in the Ecuadorian national team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Chile.

The coach has decided to maintain the formation of the tricolor team that played the first four matches of the South American World Cup. However, there are three new faces in the squad: goalkeeper Javier Burrai from Barcelona SC, defender Leonel Quiñónez, and midfielder Oscar Zambrano from Liga de Quito.

Javier Burrai called up to the Ecuador national team

Javier Burrai, who became a naturalized Ecuadorian citizen in September 2023, has been included in the national team as a replacement for Moisés Ramírez from Independiente del Valle. Ramírez is unable to participate due to “bone overload.” Burrai showcased his skills in the goal during Ecuador’s 0-0 draw against Colombia in the fourth match of the qualifiers.
