Félix Lebrun won three sets to one in the first round of the China Smash against Pole Milosz Redzimski, from victory, on Sunday in Beijing in his first match since the Paris Games where he won two bronze medals.
World No.5 (18 years old), who climbed to the third step of the Olympic podium individually and then in teams with his older brother Alexis and Simon Gauzy, however, did not have an easy task in these first events in Beijing.
High competition
Surprised in the first set by Redzimski, 67th in the world, the young Héraultais flew in the second and third sets and had to put aside two points in the final before winning. Félix Lebrun will face Spaniard Alvaro Robles (30th in the world) or Australian Finn Luu (43rd) in the second round of this famous tournament, equivalent to the Grand Slam in tennis.
Alexis Lebrun (19th in the world) is due to start the tournament on Monday against one of the best players in the world, Brazil’s No.3 Hugo Calderano, who beat the Frenchman in the 16th Olympic round.
