Farewell to Renato Molinari, king of Italian motorboating

W ith the passing of Renato Molinari, the era of great circuit powerboating comes to an end. Five years ago, on September 17, with the tragic death of Fabio Buzzi, the curtain fell on offshore powerboating. Molinari and Buzzi, a Como native from Nesso and a Lecco native: a pure “laghèe'” talent in his way of life and silence, an engineer from the plains who knew how to use the media. Very different, but both grew up on the body of water that was the heart of world powerboating from the 1950s to the early 2000s, when the nautical crisis hit shipbuilding hard.
