Excellent result for Chocó in the Under 20 Weightlifting Championship

From August 21 to 25, the Under-20 Weightlifting Championship was held in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, a crucial qualifying event for the National Youth Games. This championship brought together different young people from 21 departments of the country.

Chocó stood out strongly in the competition, achieving an impressive medal haul. In the 67 kilogram category, David Antonio Quintero won two gold medals and one bronze, demonstrating his skill and consistency.

For his part, Juan Esteban Bolívar won the bronze medal in the 81 kilogram category, highlighting his lifting skills.

However, Chocó materialized in the 96-kilogram category, where Hamer Yair Rodríguez achieved a remarkable feat by obtaining three gold medals, consolidating his position as one of the most promising athletes of the tournament.

This championship not only served to qualify for the National Youth Games, but also highlighted the potential of young Colombian athletes. Chocó’s outstanding performance in weightlifting promises much for the future of this sport in the region and in the country.

With this result, Chocó has qualified 17 athletes for the first Youth Games, with 5 women and 12 men.
