The Canadian one Tennis-Beauty Eugenie Bouchard (30) was once among the top five players in the world and reached the Wimbledon final in 2014. Ten years later, “Genie” has slipped to number 985 in the world tennis rankings and mostly makes headlines from her private life.
But now the tennis beauty is once again at the top of the sport. Bouchard has swapped his racket and is now playing pickleball – and is having mega success. She just defeated number three in pickleball, Lea Jansen (32/USA), 11:4 and 11:8! Bouchard posted pictures of her first semi-final appearance on the tour for her over 2.3 million followers on Instagram.

Pickleball is an absolute trend sport, especially in the USA, that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. There are important differences compared to tennis. The speed of the ball is much slower, the racket is smaller and the space is only a third as large.

Bouchard announced last year that she would play on the pickleball tour in 2024. For a long time now, the athlete from Montreal has been more of a model and influencer than a tennis player. Due to numerous injuries, Bouchard was no longer able to get going. At the major Grand Slam tournaments, she usually failed to qualify.

Tennis opened many doors for her to other areas, she said in a YouTube talk with online star Valeria Lipovetsky in June: “I was immediately able to get great marketing offers off the court. I’ve been asked to appear in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition a few times. Exploring this trail was definitely on my to-do list. It’s definitely part of who I am because I think it’s great.” In 2018, the athlete was photographed for the first time for the renowned swimwear magazine.
