Argentine player Emiliano Grillo had an excellent first round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and finished in third position, just three shots behind the leader. The Chaco native finished the first 18 holes five shots under par and tied for third with Chilean Joaquín Niemann and Korean Tom Kim. The first place is in the hands of the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama, with a great score of eight under par, while his second place is the Finnish Sami Välimäki, with six under par.
In televised statements, Grillo analyzed: “I would like to see the format change, but it is very similar how it is played in all tournaments,” and acknowledged that “the court is perfect, especially this one taken care of. People want to see good shots and good results, let’s hope it continues like this.” This Friday the golf action continues, with the second of four rounds.
In sailing, on the other hand, the results were not as expected. Francisco Guaragna finished 28th in the first men’s dinghy race, his Olympic Games debut, while in the second he finished 26th. Despite these results, Guaragna has many races to recover and continue to climb the classification positions.
In the same discipline, but in the women’s branch, Lucía Falasca finished 35th, far behind the leaders Louise Cervera (France), Gu Min (China) and Chiara Floriani (Italy). In any case, like Guaragna, he has many careers ahead of him to try to recover.
Regarding windsurfing, races 11, 12 and 13 of the men’s race were held, where Francisco Saubidet came in 22nd, 23rd and 19th, placing him 21st overall. In the women’s race, Chiara Ferretti finished 19th in the first regatta of the day, missed the second and finished third again, so she is 24th in the overall classification.
