International Training Course Boosts Refereeing Skills
SANTO DOMINGO – The Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games has launched an innovative training course for badminton referees and linesmen to enhance the quality of officiating and the smooth running of the competition during the 2026 Games in Santo Domingo.

Leadership and Participants
The course, currently underway at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, is led by Cuban instructors Orlando Arturo Cala Martínez and Luis Enrique Charadán Pierre, who are guiding around 30 participants.

Training for Excellence
The participants are learning from international coaches to ensure high-level technical performance at the upcoming Games. The course, which began last Friday, is set to wrap up on Tuesday, October 14.

Practical Examination and Future Outlook
The referees will put their new skills to the test during the Santo Domingo Open Internacional, scheduled for October 15 to 19 at the New Horizons Academy in the Dominican capital.
The course will conclude with a practical exam, after which participants can earn their certification to serve during the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
By the start of the Games, Dominican badminton aims to have a technical base that will support the sport’s success on a regional level.
