The Parque Almirante Laulhé Municipal Pavilion will host the III Las Cortes Women’s Basketball Tournament from September 20 to 22, sponsored by Club + Que Veterana in collaboration with the San Fernando City Council and the Andalusian Basketball Federation. The Master +35 doubled the number of participants compared to the previous edition, with a total of 12 teams and 150 players from all over the country.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Antonio Rojas, and the Councilor for Women, Isabel Blanco, joined this Thursday the president of the +Que Veterana Club, María Jesús Ortega, and the provincial delegate of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Adolfo Magrañal, in the presentation in this competition that consolidates San Fernando as a reference city for sports in general and closely linked to basketball, with a long tradition as an organizer and venue for sporting events.
The councilors emphasized the qualitative and quantitative leap experienced in this tournament, which went from four teams that participated in the first editions to twelve today. But, above all, they congratulate the +Que Veterana Club for their work in promoting sports among women over 35 years of age, which “not only contribute to physical health, but also to mental health and social health.”
In this sense, they point to +Que Veteranas as “a reference” in the city for its work and determination to fight against age and gender stereotypes in the universe of basketball and sports in general, where they are always in Town hall. of an ally.
For his part, Madroñal congratulated the veterans of the island for promoting a tournament that grows every year and now has acquired a national dimension, guaranteeing that they will continue their support and collaboration with the Andalusian Basketball Federation in the future.
The president of the club thanked the FAB and the City Council for their support of this tournament, whose goals combine “health, sports and entertainment, in addition to promoting female veterans.” In this sense, it is focused on the fact that it is not only a competitive sporting event, but also about fun and coexistence. In fact, on the third day of the tournament there will be no competition, instead the day consists of the participating teams who will visit and get to know San Fernando, therefore contributing to the development and creation of the city’s economy.
Regarding the competition, it will take place in the three basketball courts of the Municipal Pavilion in Almirante Laulhé Park in the morning (from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and in the afternoon (from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.: 00 p.m.). There are four groups of three teams each with a league system. The teams that will participate in the III San Fernando Women’s Basketball Courts Tournament are Veterana Huelva, Unicaja Máster (Málaga), Basket Aurum (Ferrol), Tortugas Basketball Club (Seville), Lokas XL Basket Basketball Club (Baeza), Club of Pasek Basketball (Málaga). ), CBRV (Rincón de la Victoria), Portuense Basketball Club (El Puerto de Santa María), Two plus one (Santiago de Copostela), Perales Basketball Club (Perales del Río-Madrid), plus two teams from +Que Veterana Club of San Fernando, the +Que Veterana Alfa club and the +Que Veterana Omega club.
