ED seizes gold worth Rs 3.36 crore in cricket and tennis betting case.

Indore, January 8 (Language) The Indore unit of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized gold worth about Rs 3.36 crore from the bank locker of an accused in the illegal betting case of cricket and tennis. This information was given in the press release issued by ED on Wednesday.

According to the release, during the search of the bank locker of Sanjay Aggarwal, one of the accused in the betting case, on Tuesday, 3.50 kg of foreign marked gold ingots and jewelery weighing 750 grams were found, the total value of which is around Rs 3.36 crore.

It was told in the release that ED had started investigating this case on the basis of the FIR registered by Ujjain Police regarding betting.

According to the release, the ED investigation revealed that a person named Piyush Chopra, along with his other associates, ran a large-scale betting ring and made illegal earnings by using SIM cards purchased on the basis of fake documents.

The release said that the ED had raided five places in Indore, Ujjain and Ludhiana on December 12 last year in this case of illegal betting in cricket and tennis.
