The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering – one of the major events of the Monterey Car Week – will be the ideal stage for the road debut of Eccentrica V12, a restomod of the Lamborghini Diablo, created by the eponymous brand founded in the Republic of San Marino by Emanuel Colombini. The première on August 16, in California, will come a year after the launch of the prototype and after a world tour in the United States, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Great Britain. Eccentrica is based on the first series of the supercar from the Bull produced between 1990 and 1994: of this, it maintains the naturally aspirated V12 in the center, but very little remains of the original car. Externally, only the windshield has not been replaced or modified by BorromeodeSilva, the design studio that took care of the style of the car. For the few who don’t know it, the Diablo, produced from 1990 to 2001, was the heir to the Countach and anticipated the Murcielago. Designed by Marcello Gandini, it arrived on the market when Chrysler owned Lamborghini and was produced in 2,884 units equipped with the 5.7 or 6-liter V12 and five-speed manual transmission.

It is 4 and a half meters long

The Eccentrica V12 stands out, just like the Diablo: the overall length is 4,437 mm, with a reduction of 23 mm compared to the original model, while the width has increased by 103 mm, reaching 2,143 mm, to ensure greater stability and a more aggressive look. The height of 1,114 mm helps to keep the center of gravity low, thus improving handling. The wheelbase of the car has been extended to 2,665 mm, with an increase of 15 mm compared to the Diablo, to ensure greater stability at high speeds. In this way, road holding is improved but also weight distribution, split 41% on the front and 59%. The minimum ground clearance is 125 mm to create an ideal balance between performance and driveability, the excellent aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.31.

REACHES 335 KM/H

The performance is that of a supercar, with an estimated top speed of 335 km/h, and a weight/power ratio of 2.91 kg/hp, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and cover 1000 meters in 19.6 seconds (provisional data pending homologation). The estimated lateral acceleration is 1.2 g, offering exceptional road holding when cornering. Furthermore, braking from 100 to 0 km/h takes just 34 meters, demonstrating excellent deceleration capacity. Under the hood of the Eccentrica V12 is an engine capable of delivering a maximum power of 550 hp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 6500 rpm, all with a displacement of 5.7 liters and a bore of 87 mm. The custom 6-speed gearbox and RM features shorter ratios, an innovation that drastically reduces the force needed to change gear, thus improving acceleration response. The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, a semi-slick track tire also approved for road use, help manage the power transferred to the ground. In addition, an advanced braking system has been introduced, featuring 380 mm front discs and 6-piston calipers developed specifically by Brembo. The price to put one of the 19 models planned by the manufacturer in the garage? We’re talking about around 1.2 million euros. In the meantime, we’re waiting for it on the road at the Monterey Car Week starting on August 9.
