The Córdoba delegation achieved four medals in the first days of competition at the 2024 National Intercollegiate Games, which will take place simultaneously in Bogotá, Pereira, Manizales and Bucaramanga. Athletes from Cordoba achieved two gold, one silver and one bronze in the disciplines of athletics and judo.
The group of Córdoba, composed of 103 students from different educational institutions of the department, began their participation on November 19 in this final phase that will last until November 30. The competitions are distributed in four host cities for the 12 disciplines in which the delegation will participate.
In athletics, Isabella Buelvas, from La Salle de Montería school, won the gold medal in the women’s youth 100 meters. On his part, Andrés Ignacio Valdez Otalvaro won another gold in the discus throw, while Lilibeth Zúñiga, from the Julio C. Miranda Educational Institution in San Antero, won the silver medal in the long jump.
In the discipline of judo, Stiven Hernández, a student at the Enrique Olaya Herrera Educational Institution in San Bernardo del Viento, achieved bronze in the -40 kilogram category in the competitions held in Bogotá.
The department’s representation competes in athletics, judo, triathlon, volleyball, integrated chess, para-athletics, basketball, skating, swimming, handball, para-swimming and table tennis. The team has the support of 21 coaching coaches and 5 officials.
Indeportes Córdoba coordinates the delegation’s participation in the national games, bringing together the best student athletes in the country. Competitions will continue next week in the four venues set for the event.
