Tigers Dominate Concordia in Austin
The Colorado College women’s tennis team captured its third consecutive 7-0 victory on Sunday, blanking Concordia University in Austin, Texas. This win improves the Tigers’ overall record to 6-2, marking their best start since 2012.
Early Lead Established in Doubles Play
The Tigers, ranked 36th in the latest ITA Division III poll, quickly gained momentum by sweeping all three doubles matches, remaining unbeaten in SCAC play.
- Lucia Moravek and Aspen Young defeated Johanna Winkler and Aria Moreni, 6-1, in the No. 1 match.
- Ally Lowe and Kala Komanduri secured a 6-0 victory over Valerie Sanchez and Emily Pullen at No. 2.
- Lindsay Popeo and Avery Hickman completed the doubles sweep with a 7-5 win against Jeauxleigh Cantu and Alyssa Mae Estrella at the No. 3 position.
Straight-Set Victories in Singles Competition
Colorado College continued its dominance by winning all six singles matches in straight sets – a feat achieved for the third consecutive team match.
- Kala Komanduri won the No. 3 match, 6-0, 6-0, for the third straight match against Emily Pullen.
- Aspen Young took the No. 1 match, 6-4, 6-0, over Winkler.
- Ally Lowe defeated Valerie Sanchez 6-2, 6-2.
- Avery Hickman defeated Aria Moreni 6-1, 6-2.
- Lucia Moravek defeated Jeauxleigh Cantu 6-0, 6-2.
- Lindsay Popeo defeated Kailey Albrecht 6-1, 6-0.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers, now 4-0 in the SCAC, will take a break from conference play and return to action on Monday, March 16, against Wellesley College in San Antonio, Texas, beginning at 12 p.m. (CT).
