The Colombian Skating Race Team was proclaimed world champion at the World Skate Games, held in Italy, under adverse weather conditions.

The rain was a constant, but it did not prevent the Colombians from dominating the competition, taking 19 gold medals, 10 silver and 5 bronze medals. This victory represents the 21st world title and the 14th consecutive for the team, consolidating its hegemony in this sport.

Under the direction of Iván Vargas and Elías del Valle, Colombia faced a championship with challenging tracks and complicated weather conditions, but maintained its determination to win. “The track was very difficult, but we prepared for any scenario,” said Vargas, who also highlighted that the team had to run 12 finals under heavy downpours, winning six of them.

The individual prominence was also notable. Among the juniors, Yicel Camila Giraldo shone with four gold medals, one silver and one bronze. Her partner Camila Vargas was not far behind, obtaining three golds.

In the senior category, María Fernanda Timms and Gabriela Rueda stood out with three golds each, in addition to other medals.

In the men’s category, Juan Jacobo Mantilla stood out with two gold medals and one bronze.

The last day of competitions was no less exciting. Valeria Rodríguez, from Antioquia, achieved a bronze medal in the 100 meter senior lanes, while the junior Dairy Charith Londoño took silver in that same event.

The president of the Colombian Skating Federation, Alberto Herrera Ayala, expressed his satisfaction with the results obtained, thanking the sponsors for their support and highlighting the team’s historic performance. In addition, he mentioned the achievements in other disciplines such as skateboarding, where Jhancarlos González won the first world medal in the street modality, and inline downhill, with bronzes for Alef Torres and Carlos Quiroga.
