The cause of the hemorrhage is not yet known. However, there have been reports of a deterioration in Civil’s health in recent months, with some speculating that it could be related to the pressure of managing one of the most successful teams in Cuban baseball history.
Civil took over as manager of Las Tunas in 2018 and quickly turned the team into a powerhouse, leading them to the Serie Nacional championship last season. His achievements on and off the field made him a fan favorite in Havana and beyond.
