Christian Moore Returns to Knoxville: Baseball Prodigy Back Home with Rocket City Trash Pandas

Knoxville native Christian Moore is back in town, bringing a wave of excitement for local baseball fans. After winning a national title with the Volunteers and making waves in the minors, Moore has returned to his roots with the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.

From Knoxville to Bolpark: A Homecoming for Moore

“Everything felt familiar until I stepped into Bolpark,” said Moore, reflecting on his return to Knoxville. “But that’s great; it’s all about Knoxville loving baseball.” Bolpark, the new establishment in town, has replaced the familiar Nelson Stadium, marking a new chapter in Knoxville’s baseball history.

Moore is no stranger to Knoxville. A former Volunteer himself, he hit an impressive .338 with 61 home runs over three seasons. In 2024, he was one of the best players in Tennessee history, setting program records with 34 home runs and a .375 batting average.

Moore’s Journey to the Pros

After winning the national title with the Vols, Moore was drafted in the 2024 MLB draft and debuted with the Highland Empire last season. He spent time in the spring training of Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Angels before joining the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Moore has been in contact with his Tennessee teammates, reminiscing about their time together. “It’s another brotherhood,” he said. “It’s something that will last a lifetime.”

Moore’s Impact on the Trash Pandas

So far this season, Moore has been hitting .200 with eight runs in 19 games with the Trash Pandas. Last season, he hit .347 with six home runs and 25 runs in 20 games. Despite the adjustment to professional life, Moore has embraced the challenge, eager to learn and improve every day.

Learning and Loving the Game

During spring training, Moore had the opportunity to learn from Mike Trout, George Springer, and the Anderson team. He also worked with Ron Washington, a well-known player and manager. “I’ve fallen in love with the game again,” said Moore. “It doesn’t matter how you play or how you work; it’s about enjoying the game.”

Moore’s enjoyment of the game has translated into success on the field. He plans to spend the next few days taking in the city and playing baseball in Knoxville.
