Chemnitz Hosts German Ju-Jutsu Championships in May
About the Championships
Chemnitz, Germany’s 2025 Capital of Culture, is set to host the German Ju-Jutsu Championships this May. The event, organized by the newly-established 1st Chemnitz Ju-Jutsu Association, will take place on the 24th and 25th of May in the Sachsenhalle.

What is Ju-Jutsu?
Ju-Jutsu can be translated as ‘the gentle path’, explains trainer and sports coordinator Marcel Matthes (29). It describes the art of using the power of the attacker and with it to defeat it.

preparations and Challenges
Over 500 students between the ages of 12 and 17 will compete for the titles.
The organization is a challenge for the small club, requiring over 700 judo mats and volunteers.
The championship is part of Chemnitz’s “Euja!” funding program, though not an official event of the Capital of Culture.
Competition Details
The competitions will take place on May 24th and 25th, from 9 a.m. in the Sachsenhalle (Street Usti Nad Labem). All information is available at www.cjjv.de.
