LG Secures Edge with 75-66 Win over SK in 2024-25 Pro Basketball Championship
In a thrilling matchup, Changwon LG has claimed a significant 75-66 victory over Seoul SK in the first leg of the 2024-25 Pro Basketball Championship, boosting their chances of winning the championship to a confident 70.4% – the same success rate they’ve maintained in the past.
Tamayo and Maray’s Outstanding Performance
LG’s win was powered by an outstanding performance from Carl Tamayo and Assem Maray, who combined for 43 points. Tamayo dropped 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Maray chipped in 19 points and 14 rebounds. Their relentless efforts helped LG secure a 42-37 advantage in rebounds.
LG’s Key Performers
- Carl Tamayo: 24 points, 10 rebounds
- Assem Maray: 19 points, 14 rebounds
- Guard Yang Jun-suk: 9 points, 4 assists
However, LG’s shooter, Wonpg mung (7 points, 7 rebounds), struggled with a 10% three-point success rate, making just 1 out of 10 attempts.
“I was nervous about being in the championship for the first time, but our players overcame that. We focused on rebounds to control the opponents. We still need Yang Jun-suk, Wonpg mung, and Tamayo’s attack. They’re already contributing defensively, so we’ll work on their shooting.”
SK Struggles with 틀림
Seoul SK struggled with a low shooting percentage, make just 36.4% (4 out of 11) of their three-point attempts and 29.4% (10 out of 34) of their field goals. Their fast break also resulted in just two points. Jamil Wanny led SK with 21 points and 13 rebounds but couldn’t prevent his team from losing.
“We collapsed under Tamayo and Heil-young’s three-pointers in the second quarter. We couldn’t get an attack going and missed easy shots like free throws.”
Looking Ahead
Both teams will meet again in the second leg at the same venue on the 7th, where SK will look to bounce back and LG will aim to secure their victory.
