Title: Thitikul Tops Boutier, Korda among Favorites in Hot Start at Mizuho Americas Open

Striding Ahead: Jeeno Thitikul Blazes Start with 8-under 64; Celine Boutier Closely Behind

At the National Golf Club, nummer two seed Jeeno Thitikul made an impression with an 8-under par 64 in the opening round of the Mizuho Americas Open. The Thai ace, winner of four titles on the LPGA Tour, enjoyed a flawless start, indicating a promising week ahead.

“My putter works much better today,” Thitikul said, reflecting on her Chevron Championship debut earlier this month. “I had trouble there, but I think it’s not just me, the greens were really difficult that week. Today, I putted well and was lucky with no wind in the morning.”

Trailing the leader by two strokes, France’s number one golfer Celine Boutier signed an impressive scorecard with six birdies in her final seven holes. Starting from hole 10, the Parisian struggled initially but finished strongly, leveraging her exceptional driving and putting.

The French golfer, winner of the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship, hadn’t begun an LPGA tournament with a score of 64 or better since 2022. Her strong finish has placed her well within contention following the opening round.

Roussin-Bouchard and Korda Makes Gains

Equally impressive was Pauline Roussin-Bouchard‘s 1-under 69. The Varoise carded the round without any bogeys, through smart putting, and sits alongside Lydia at the 24th spot, five strokes from the lead.
