Carlos Alcaraz Still Has Room for Improvement, Says Former World No. 6 Gilles Simon
Gilles Simon: “Carlos Alcaraz loses to players other than Novak. He has notched some defeats, but he is more within reach of other players compared to Novak. In Grand Slam tournaments, Novak is consistently in the final, waiting for Alcaraz. On the other hand, Alcaraz doesn’t always make it to the final because he can lose to players like Daniil Medvedev or Sinner. Even at Wimbledon, he often struggles to dominate and win sets like the greats of the game, such as Novak, Rafa, or Roger.”
“He hasn’t yet established a significant advantage over other players, which puts him within their reach at times. In a Grand Slam, you need to win six matches. Alcaraz sometimes runs the risk of having a bad match and getting eliminated, more so than these established players. However, he is young and his trajectory is still on the rise. No need to worry.”
