The July result brings to a total of 1,011,259 units sold in the first seven months of 2024, for a growth of 5.2% on the same period in 2023. The pre-Covid glories are far away: -18.2% compared to January-July 2019. Furthermore, the current economic scenario has suggested to Unrae to revise downwards the estimate for the entire year, set at 1,620,000 cars registered in all of 2024.

As anticipated, electric cars return to anonymity with a share of 3.4% (at 3.8% in January-July), in line with July 2023. Plug-in hybrids are doing badly, also slightly down in July and at a 3.3% share in the first 7 months of 2024.
