MONTREAL – Cole Caufield etched his name into Canadiens history Tuesday night, scoring his 40th goal of the season with just 22 seconds remaining in overtime to lift Montreal to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre.

Caufield tapped in a backdoor pass from Nick Suzuki, becoming the first Montreal player to reach the 40-goal mark since Vincent Damphousse in the 1993-94 season. The milestone didn’t approach as a surprise to the 25-year-ancient forward.
