Wheelchair Basketball Canada Honors Trailblazers with Historic Hall of Fame Inductions
Wheelchair Basketball Canada has announced its next round of inductees into the prestigious Hall of Fame, highlighting exceptional teams and individuals who have left an indelible mark on the sport.
Teams That Shook the World Stage
Two groundbreaking teams will be inducted for their three-on-three world championship victories. The women’s team, led by superstar Élodie Tessier from Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec, made history last August by winning the inaugural open world championship in South Africa. Tessier was also named tournament MVP.
The men’s team will also be honored for their 2025 championship victory, solidifying their status as one of the world’s best.
Pioneers Who Paved the Way
Five outstanding individuals were also selected for their enduring contributions to wheelchair basketball in Canada:
- Gary McPherson
- Roy Sherman
- Jamie Borisoff
- Jennifer Krempien
- Dean MacKinnon

The Induction Ceremony
The two world champion teams will be inducted during the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Championship, taking place in Richmond, British Columbia, May 15-17.

Beyond their numerous accolades, each inductee has helped shape wheelchair basketball in Canada, fostering its growth and evolution, as Gittens noted: “Their influence goes far beyond the scoreboard.”
