Burkina Faso: two senior officials under arrest warrant for embezzlement of public funds

This Friday, November 8, 2024, during a press conference, the Prosecutor of Faso at the Ouaga 1 high court, Blaise BaziƩ, announced the detention of two senior officials accused of embezzlement of public funds.

Tiegnan Amidou, manager of funds intended for internally displaced people, is said to have embezzled more than three billion CFA francs by using counterfeit signatures to issue fraudulent checks. The investigation led to the seizure of valuable assets, including luxury cars, properties, and 159 million CFA francs in cash.

The second accused, Stanislas Kinda, is being prosecuted for the embezzlement of 578 million CFA francs at the Center for the Promotion of Poultry and the Multiplication of Performing Animals. An asset investigation aims to identify his property and possible accomplices.

The prosecutor also called on anyone with additional information to come forward, emphasizing the authorities’ commitment to the fight against corruption in Burkina Faso.
