Three senior executives of the National Armed Forces of Burkina Faso were removed from the army for irregular absence of more than six days, according to three separate decrees made public this Saturday, October 4, 2024.

The decrees, signed by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, concern Lieutenant-Colonel Ouoba Djassanou Roméo, Intendant-Commander Ouédraogo Sékou, and Commander Belem Mahamady.

These decisions follow prolonged, unjustified absences of these officers, which constitutes a serious violation of military rules in force. The radiation thus puts a definitive end to their careers within the Burkinabè Armed Forces.

This disciplinary measure is part of a context of increased rigor within the Burkinabè army, which faces significant security challenges. Emphasis is placed on discipline and total commitment of soldiers to ensure a strong and united army in the fight against threats to the country.

The government of Burkina Faso, through these sanctions, reaffirms its desire to maintain a high level of standards within the armed forces, by not tolerating any breach of military obligations.
