Burkina-Algeria cooperation: humanitarian aid of 106 tonnes to support the government’s efforts

The Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Commander Passowendé Pélagie Kabré, received, on January 2, 2025, humanitarian aid from the Democratic and People’s Republic of Algeria, at Ouagadougou international airport.

This aid was handed over to the minister by the charge d’affaires, Sofiane Douah, accompanied by the Algerian diplomatic representation in Burkina Faso. For the charge d’affaires, this humanitarian aid is made up of 72 tonnes of food packages, 15 tonnes of blankets, 14 tonnes of tents and 5 tonnes of medicine, for a total of 106 tonnes. After receiving the donation, the Minister of Humanitarian Action expressed, on behalf of President Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the recognition of the government and the people of Burkina Faso, to HE Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the outpouring of solidarity towards Burkina Faso .
She indicated that this gesture strengthens the government’s intervention capacities in caring for vulnerable populations affected by the humanitarian crisis. In the same logic, Commander Passowendé Pélagie Kabré also noted that the government is part of a dynamic of recovery of the populations in order to free them from welfare. Thus arrangements are being made for their empowerment with the Agricultural Offense launched by the President of Faso. According to the charge d’affaires, the handover demonstrates Algeria’s constant commitment to supporting the Burkinabè people in the face of humanitarian challenges. It is also part of the strengthening of bilateral relations of fraternity and cooperation of the Algerian government, faithful to its principles of African mutual aid.
