Brandon Nimmo Paces Mets in Historic Offensive Performance

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a night to remember, tying a franchise record with nine RBI as the Mets Shellacked the Washington Nationals, 19-5, on Monday. Nimmo’s offensive onslaught included two home runs, a double, and a triple, falling a homer shy of the cycle.

Nimmo, who had a sluggish start to the season with a .192 batting average, improved his average to .241 with his monster performance. His six home runs this season lead the Mets.

  • Jesse Winker and Pete Alonso each contributed four and three RBI, respectively.
  • Griffin Canning earned his fourth consecutive win, allowing four hits and striking out five over five innings.

The Nationals managed to score all their runs in the eighth inning. Trevor Williams took the loss, surrendering five runs in five and two-thirds innings.

Édouard Julien Starts the Fireworks in Minnesota

Back in Minnesota, the Twins started their game with a bang as Eduoard Julien hit a home run in the first inning to help his team to a 11-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Julien’s home run was his second of the season and his eighth RBI.

Carson Kelly, in the midst of a hot streak, drove in three runs as Minnesota won their fourth consecutive game.
