Bodo/Glimt’s Fishy Ticket Swap: Norwegian Fan Lands Europa League Semi-final Spot

Bodo/Glimt’s supporters will welcome Tottenham to the north of Norway.

A Norwegian fan traded five kilos of boknafisk, a Norwegian delicacy, for a ticket to Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash between Bodo/Glimt and Tottenham Hotspur in the Arctic Circle. The hosts are vying to become the first Norwegian club to reach a European final.

Unprecedented Demand, Unique Solution

With just 480 tickets available for 50,000 eager fans, one creative supporter found an innovative way to secure his seat. Torbjørn Eide, a fish farm production manager, offered five kilos of boknafisk – worth approximately €215 – in exchange for a ticket.

We produce Norway’s best boknafisk, and you probably can’t get it in Bodø city. So I thought maybe someone would want it. Torbjørn Eide, to Norway’s state-run broadcaster NRK

The offer was too tempting for Oystein Aanes, who had an extra ticket. “It was just a fun thing,” he told NRK.

Reindeer Meat Deal

Inspired by Eide’s success, Nils Erik Oskal tried his luck with five kilos of reindeer meat. “Someone took the bait. It didn’t take long,” Oskal reported.

Oskal’s trade could be worth around €75. “But that doesn’t matter, I get to experience something huge,” he said.
