Zverev, Tsitsipas Headline Strong BMW Open Munich Entry List

München – The participant field for the BMW Open by Bitpanda in München (April 11th to 19th) is taking shape. In addition to defending champion and Germany’s number one Alexander Zverev, last year’s finalist Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik, Stefanos Tsitsipas has also confirmed his participation.

Top Players Converge in Munich

The 27-year-classic Greek player was the ATP World Master in 2019 and holds a positive record against Zverev (28) with 10 wins in 16 matches. Their most recent encounter was in 2024 at the indoor Masters in Paris, where Zverev won the hard-court duel 7-5, 6-4.

Tsitsipas, formerly ranked number 3 in the world, has dropped in the ATP rankings due to a long-term injury to his hip flexor muscle. He currently holds the 51st position – narrowly making the cut (54) for the Munich 500 tournament. He aims to earn important points on clay at MTTC Iphitos for his comeback into the world’s top ten.

There’s a good chance Tsitsipas could face top-seeded Zverev early in the tournament.

Strongest Starting Field in Munich History

The traditional tennis tournament, which became part of the ATP Tour’s 500 category last year, has never had such a strong line-up. A total of eight players from the world’s top 20 will participate, including Zverev, Shelton, Fritz, and Bublik, as well as Jakub Menšík, Flavio Cobolli, Luciano Darderi, and last year’s Munich semi-finalist Francisco Cerúndolo.

Notably, 19-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca, who won the tournaments in Basel and Buenos Aires in 2025, will make his Munich debut.
