Another NBA night and another recap by BM. Nine matches were played: below are all the results and related recaps.
BOSTON CELTICS-ORLANDO MAGIC 121-94
The reigning champions Boston Celtics return to winning after the defeat against Toronto, getting rid of the Magic without too many problems. A lead of more than double figures already at half-time and full control of the match for Mazzulla’s boys, led by Tatum with 30 points. Cole Anthony’s 23 are useless for Orlando.
NEW YORK KNICKS-MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 99-116
Without the highly anticipated Karl Anthony-Towns, the Knicks lose their sixth game in their last nine. Minnesota is driven by Anthony Edwards’ 36 points, in addition to Reid’s 23 off the bench. Brunson’s 26 aren’t enough in NY.
CHICAGO BULLS-CHARLOTTE HORNETS 123-125
The match heats up in the last quarter between the Bulls and Hornets, with the guests first posting a 21-2 run, while the home team responds immediately afterwards with a 12-0 which contributes to making the final crackling. Deciding the game for the Hornets are LaMelo Ball with 26 points and Bridges with 21; Nikola Vucevic’s 40 isn’t enough for the Bulls.
NEW ORLEANS PELICANS-UTAH JAZZ 136-123
Easy victory for the Pelicans, who close the game already in the first quarter (42-22). Utah tries to comeback, led by Keynote George with 26 points, but can do nothing against CJ McCollum with 26 and Zion Williamson with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS-TORONTO RAPTORS 130-112
Third consecutive success for the Bucks, who beat Toronto thanks to Giannis with 35 points and 13 rebounds. For Milwaukee there are also Damian Lillard’s 26, which makes the 7 Raptors players in double figures useless.
MIAMI HEAT-DENVER NUGGETS 113-133
Convincing victory for the Nuggets, in the re-edition of the Finals from two years ago. Miami never in the game, Denver led by a Nikola Jokic with a triple double (24 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists). Also standing out for the Nuggests was Jamal Murray, who scored 30 points; Herro’s 22 aren’t enough for the Heat.
DALLAS MAVERICKS-OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 106-98
Without their leader Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder fall to Dallas, who finds Kyrie Irving scoring 25 points. For OKC the entire quintet scored double figures, but this was not enough to overcome the Mavs.
SAN ANTONIO SPURS-MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 112-140
Decisive breakthrough at halftime for the Grizzlies, who beat the San Antonio Spurs away. For the Grizzlies there are the 22 of Desmond Bank and the 22 of Wells; Victor Wembanyama’s 19 points and 12 rebounds were not enough in San Antonio.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS-BROOKLYN NETS 102-101
The chance for the Nets to snatch a victory at the Lakers was shattered by the missed triple in the final by former player D’Angelo Russell. The former Los Angeles point guard is however the main protagonist for the Bianconeri, scoring 19 points coming off the bench. But his performance was not enough to overcome the Lakers, who found 38 points from Austin Reaves and 29 points from LeBron James, albeit a rotation limited to just 8 players.
