Blue Jays Lock Up Key Duo
The Toronto Blue Jays announced contract extensions for both General Manager Ross Atkins and Manager John Schneider on Monday, ensuring stability at the helm as they aim to build on recent success.
Atkins signed a five-year deal extending through the 2031 season, while Schneider received a two-year extension through 2028.
Building on a World Series Run
The extensions follow a 2025 season that saw the Blue Jays win the American League East with a 94-68 record and reach the World Series for the first time since 1993, ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Atkins’ Tenure and Vision
Atkins, hired in December 2015, has overseen a 777-741 record over ten seasons, leading the Blue Jays to five postseason appearances (2016, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2025). He is currently the second-longest-tenured general manager in franchise history.
“Ross has done an outstanding job in building a deep foundation with an accomplished Baseball Operations team, best-in-class resources, and a collaborative culture. I am a strong supporter of stability and continuity, and Ross continues to craft us better,”
Blue Jays president & CEO Mark Shapiro
Shapiro added, It’s easy for me to believe in Ross, as I’ve seen him transition from player to young front office executive to established MLB executive, and I am extremely confident his leadership will help us achieve our collective goal of bringing World Series championships back to Canada.
Schneider’s Impact and Future
Schneider, who took over as manager during the 2022 season, has compiled a 303-257 record (.541), the fourth-most wins in franchise history. He was a finalist for the 2025 American League Manager of the Year award.
“Schneids has been, and will continue to be, an exceptional leader and manager in professional baseball because of his unwavering commitment to players,”
Atkins
Atkins continued, Schneids understands what it takes to build a winning environment and works tirelessly to create exactly that. His blend of emotional intelligence and deep baseball knowledge truly sets him apart in an incredibly competitive industry. His constant drive to improve shows in the preparation he brings each day, and we appear forward to his continued leadership.
“I am ecstatic to continue leading the Blue Jays as we work to bring our incredible fans a championship team. It’s been a privilege to be part of this organization for nearly 25 years, and the work the Blue Jays continue to do excites me every day,”
Schneider
Schneider also stated, Thank you to Mark Shapiro, Ross Atkins, and Rogers for believing in me and giving me this opportunity – it’s an honour and one I don’t take lightly. And thank you to our fans for the awesome support they’ve shown my family throughout my time here. Across the city and country, the fans have made Jessy, Gunner, Greyson, and me feel truly at home. I love coming to the ballpark and working alongside our players, staff, and front office, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build a championship culture here in Toronto.
Looking Ahead
These extensions signal a strong vote of confidence in the current direction of the Blue Jays organization as they strive to return to the World Series and bring a championship to Toronto.
