Rajakovic wished Curry’s career an end and promised to celebrate properly. Butler reunites with Riley.
When Wardell Stephen Curry II finally retires from basketball, many of his opponents will breathe a sigh of relief. But no one has said it as clearly as Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic. When asked about the renewed good performance of the Warriors superstar against his Raptors (9-31), the 45-year-old Serb laughed and said: “I’m going to be drunk that night. I’m going to celebrate, I promise.”
Despite Curry’s gala, Toronto celebrated a shocking victory over Golden State and helped the Warriors to a negative record for the first time of the season. Rajakovic called it “a privilege” to coach a season with Curry. The two knew each other well before his first job as head coach in Toronto, Rajakovic was an assistant coach in Oklahoma City and the Grizzlies in the Western Conference. In the playoffs, Curry led the Warriors in the Conference Finals in 2016 (against OKC) and in the Semifinals in 2022 (against Memphis).
