On December 7, 2024, the annual tournament in St. Nicholas, where friendly clubs from Middle Franconia were invited, happened again at the Lauf Judo Club. The competition took place in the U10 and U12 age groups.

For the first time, the Judo Club Lauf 1973 eV was able to welcome the first mayor of the city of Lauf, Thomas Lang, to open the tournament. Mayor Lang also took the opportunity to speak nice and encouraging words to the little warriors, which made us very happy. Mr. Lang’s presence was also accompanied by a donation for the youth work, for which we would like to thank you.

A total of 58 small fighters is an impressive starting figure. 13 judo kids from Judo Club Lauf alone took to the mat to show off their skills. In this beginners’ tournament, our judo kids were able to show enthusiastic parents and their opponents on the mat what they learned in competition practice training.

Our runner Judokids managed to put themselves in the spotlight with two 1st places, three 2nd places and eight 3rd places and also got the 2nd place in the team ranking at the end of the tournament. The winner of the tournament, TSV Obernzenn, announced the end of the tournament with great joy and was able to look forward to the 2024 St. Nicholas Cup in this year’s team rankings.

The participating clubs achieved the following results:

  1. Place – TSV Obernzenn with 21 points
  2. Place – TV Erlangen and JC Lauf with 20 points each
  3. Place – FV Wendelstein with 13 points
  4. Place – TV Altdorf and BC Eckental with 10 points each
  5. Place – TSV Roßtal with 8 points
  6. Place – SV Neuhaus with 7 points

Of course, all the little warriors received a certificate and the coveted chocolate Santa Claus at the award ceremony.

A special thanks for the team of helpers, without them such an event would not be possible.

All in all, a successful tournament for our club and great advertising for our beautiful sport of judo.
