The Ehime Mandarin Pirates would like to inform you that Mr. Mejia (17), who came to Japan from Guatemala, will be participating in team practice at the Ehime Bank General Ground.

The Ehime Mandarin Pirates held the “Program for the Smiles of the World – Ehime Mandarin Pirates Baseball Equipment Presentation Ceremony” on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, with the aim of supporting the dreams of young people through baseball. We therefore donated baseball equipment for approximately 20 people, and received letters of thanks from local children starting in March 2023.
Mr. Mejia met Shuhei Ichikawa, who was dispatched from Ehime Prefecture as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and in order to make his dream of becoming a Japanese professional baseball player come true, he raised funds to come to Japan through crowdfunding and decided to come to Japan this time. It comes to the day.
After coming to Japan, he will practice with the Ehime Mandarin Pirates and the Matsuyama Kita High School baseball team, and then try out for independent leagues around the country.

Angel Ismael Mejia Guerrero
Born October 10, 2006, 17 years old, from Cobán, Alta Verapaz, Republic of Guatemala.
Discovered baseball at the age of 6. Positions are third baseman/second baseman/shortstop/catcher.
Right-handed pitcher and right-handed hitter. His strengths are his strong shoulders and swing with punching power.
Shuhei Ichikawa
Born in 1998, 26 years old, from Ehime Prefecture
Dispatched to the Republic of Guatemala as a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer from May 2022 to May 2024. As a baseball coach, he strives to develop youth in Alta Verapaz province.
