Barcelona is already planning for the upcoming season. The Sports Directorate is actively working on building their squad, and one of the key considerations is the future of their star players, Joao Félix and Joao Cancelo. In interviews with Catalan media, it was emphasized that both players are crucial for the team’s success.
Vitor Roque: A Potential Signing
However, the club’s plans may change in the coming months due to financial constraints. Barcelona is also eyeing Vitor Roque, whom they hope to bring in either in January or during the summer transfer window. The feasibility of this transfer depends on the league’s flexibility regarding financial regulations, which Barcelona anticipates will be resolved soon, allowing them more room to strengthen their squad.
Joao Cancelo: A Challenging Acquisition
The signings of Joao Cancelo and Joao Félix pose significant challenges. Both players are currently on loan at Barcelona without any signed purchase options. Negotiations with their respective clubs will be complex. However, it is believed that securing Cancelo’s permanent transfer would be relatively easier. Although there is no official valuation from Manchester City, it is expected that the player will not be available for less than 30 million. Manchester City had acquired Cancelo from Juventus for 65 million.
Joao Félix: A Costly Endeavor
On the other hand, acquiring Joao Félix will be a more expensive endeavor. Atletico Madrid is demanding a minimum of 70 million to part ways with the striker. Despite not being in Cholo Simeone’s plans, the Portuguese player’s price tag is high due to the significant investment Atletico made to sign him from Benfica for 127 million euros. Additionally, the players’ salaries must be considered, making the overall cost of the transfers substantial. Joao Cancelo’s transfer appears to be a more viable option compared to Félix’s.
It is still early to determine how Barcelona’s squad will be reinforced. The performance of players currently on loan, such as Ansu Fati, will be evaluated. Ansu Fati, who has been performing well in the Premier League, could be a more affordable alternative to Joao Félix. Another area that requires attention is the right-back position, as Xavi currently lacks a suitable replacement for Dest in the upcoming campaign. Additionally, signing a quality center-back is a priority for the Sports Directorate, as they aim to strengthen the team’s defense.
