There has been no less discussion and criticism about the Kanpur Test of Bangladesh’s tour of India. The outfield of the Kanpur Green Park Stadium was at the center of discussion in the match. The ICC did not hesitate to call the outfield ‘unsatisfactory’ after being drenched in rain for two and a half days. A demerit point is also added next to the name.
On the first day of the Test held from September 27 to October 1, it rained midway after the start of play. After 35 overs were played, the next two days were washed away by rain. India won the match by 7 wickets with great bowling and aggressive batting. After the match, the discussion about the outfield remained.
Finally, on Thursday (November 7), the ICC rated Kanpur’s outfield as ‘unsatisfactory’. Kanpur will be banned from hosting international matches for one year if it receives more or more demerit points within five years. Meanwhile, Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium received a ‘very good’ rating.
