Likewise, regarding the mobilization of resources, the president highlighted that a methodology was proposed that is creating trust to reach an agreement on one of the most difficult issues to debate at the COP between the parties.
On the other hand, CBD Secretary Astrid Schomaker said: “All countries are taking the Montreal call seriously and are working to finalize their national biodiversity strategies and action plans. COP16 is a summit of encouragement for everyone to work together. Let’s understand that there are obstacles, but we can all help each other.”
For her part, Inger Andersen, director of the United Nations Environment Program, assured that the progress in Cali will give impetus, value and confidence to the other climate and desertification conventions. “These three Rio conventions, plus the one on pollution, are an integral part of the solutions. Actions on nature, actions on the 30×30 objectives, actions on the objective of restoring 30% by 2030, each of them is essential to also reduce our climate burden,” he stressed.
