Xàtiva Badminton Club Dominates Senior and Junior Tournaments, Secures 14 Medals

Impressive Medal Haul Across Two Competitions

The Club Bádminton Xàtiva showcased its prowess this past weekend, securing a total of 14 medals across two separate tournaments: the Máster Senior de Las Torres de Cotillas (Murcia) and the Top TTR de El Campello. The team earned three silver and three bronze medals at the Murcia event, while claiming two gold, four silver, and two bronze medals at the competition in El Campello.

Máster Senior de Las Torres de Cotillas Results

The Máster Senior de Las Torres de Cotillas, held on March 14th and 15th, attracted 153 athletes, including six players from CB Xàtiva. Carlos Martínez, competing in the +70/75 age category, finished fifth in the individual men’s event. He achieved greater success in the mixed doubles, earning a silver medal alongside Rita Bartel of CB Benalmádena, falling to the English duo of John Charles Brown and Kathryn Mary Wycherley.

Santiago Villanueva secured a bronze medal in the +60 individual event. José Luis Llopis, in the +55 category, was defeated in the round of 16 by Álvaro Rangil, who later won silver. Llopis and José Carlos Pérez of CB Soria achieved a fourth-place finish in men’s doubles. Julio Martín and Gary Clark of CB San Fernando de Valencia took home a bronze medal in the +50 category.

Top TTR El Campello: Rising Stars Shine

The Top TTR in El Campello saw 12 athletes from CB Xàtiva compete in the Sub-15, Sub-17, and Sub-19 categories, alongside a total of 124 athletes from various communities.

Sub-15 Success

Joel Mahiques and Alexa Zemov won gold in the Sub-15 doubles, remaining undefeated throughout the competition. Despite a shoulder injury, Alexa Zemov likewise secured fifth place in the individual event. Joel Mahiques and Aaron Fasanar reached the group stage but didn’t advance.

Sub-17 and Sub-19 Performances

In the Sub-17 category, Arnau Ballester earned a silver medal after a strong performance, losing to Izan Martínez in the final. Meshack Martínez and Irene Orquín secured a silver medal in mixed doubles, while Pascual Pardo and Sergi Cucart of CB Drop València won bronze.

Ximo Torres reached the final in the Sub-19 individual event, ultimately earning a silver medal after a hard-fought match against Simón Coloma. Ximo Torres and Martina Molina also secured a silver medal in Sub-19 doubles.

International Experience for Feliu Terol

Feliu Terol recently competed in the Iberdrola Spanish Junior Open Sub19 in Oviedo, representing CB Xàtiva. He participated in both the mixed doubles and men’s doubles events, gaining valuable experience against international competition.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Competitions

Feliu Terol has been selected to participate in the National Technical Training Camp in Huesca from March 19th to 22nd. CB Xàtiva will also be represented at the Territorial Master in Manises on March 22nd, with three athletes competing. The club will also participate in the 3rd round of the Valencian Community Sports Games in the cadet category in Teulada on March 21st.
