KUALA LUMPUR: National journeyman Yap Roy King intends to continue competing in two categories – men’s doubles and mixed doubles – as before.

Despite having an encouraging season with Wan Arif Wan Junaidy in the men’s competition, the 24-year-old believes he still has the skills to compete in mixed doubles.

“Of course I like to play in mixed doubles and I feel that I can play in two categories. I am still enthusiastic that I can handle both,” he said when contacted recently.

Meanwhile, Roy King has revealed that Valerie Siou could be teamed up with other players for the time being following a knee injury which has forced her out for a long period of time.

However, he admitted that he still doesn’t know who will be his temporary partner for the mixed duo.

“I’m still not sure who my new friend is, but I suggested a few names to the coach. Because my new partner has a lot to think about later.

“But the coach said I will play with a new partner so that the feeling of the competition (mixed doubles) is not lost,” he said. – Bernama
