Rosporden Badminton Tournament Raises Funds for Young Athlete
Badminton Rosporden is organizing its fourth annual solidarity leisure tournament on Saturday, March 21st, to benefit the Gabonese association, La Petite Océane.
Supporting Océane
This year’s tournament aims to help finance equipment and arrangements for Océane, a 15-year-old schoolgirl suffering from a form of muscular myopathy. “All profits will be donated to the association to help finance equipment and arrangements for this young girl suffering from a form of muscular myopathy, causing her daily pain,” explain the organizers. Océane will be present during the event, and her mother will be selling handmade crochet items as a fundraiser.
“Recently, wheelchairs have been taken care of, and fortunately. A spare battery is not, even though it is really necessary. The cost of this battery is around €700, a sum which is difficult to come by, especially since we also have to feel about the necessary developments in Océane, and the aid is not legion.”
Océane’s parents, Sophie Jaouen and Fabien Chevallier
Océane relies on an electrically assisted wheelchair for mobility, and a spare battery is urgently needed, costing approximately €700.
A Tournament for All Skill Levels
The tournament is open to all players aged 16 and over, in mixed doubles, men’s, and women’s categories. “It is not necessary to know how to play well, because here there is no pressure or ranking to defend: the watchword remains the pleasure of playing,” says Alexandra Concha, president of Badminton Rosporden. The focus is on participation and enjoyment, with a friendly and accessible atmosphere.
The day will also feature a shuttlecock launcher and other activities.
