In response to 486 emergencies related to natural disasters, the Medellín Mayor’s Office has supported 913 families, equivalent to 2,916 people, between January and October of this year. The eventualities addressed include structural deterioration, mass movements, fires and floods, among other incidents, with June being the most critical month with 66 recorded situations that affected 175 families.

The Undersecretary of Population Groups, Clara Vélez, explained that the emergency response team works to characterize the conditions of the affected families and offer solutions tailored to their needs. In addition, measures were implemented such as the delivery of humanitarian aid, temporary shelters, support for the transfer of belongings and accommodation of pets.

Among preventive actions, the Mayor’s Office urged citizens to follow official recommendations, avoid risk areas during rains and have a family emergency plan.
